I am completely beside myself right now!!!
This afternoon, my last in Rishikesh, I completely accepted the fact that I am not in India for my yoga practice.
Though I have taken 1-2 classes every day and learned A TON, there was much more inward expansion and awakening than anything to do with my physical body.
So tonight, with no expectations, I took a full Ashtanga Primary Series class for the first time, during which I fell on my butt and face on many occasions, and had my body pushed into poses even I thought were impossible.
Afterward, I figured I'd ask the instructor how to get into this pose, one that has evaded me for literally years. I have asked countless instructors and played around with yogi friends trying to nail this no-name leg-behind-the-head-arm-balance, with no successful technique.
But tonight, after Umesh uttered about three words, I was like, "Oh, like this?!" And nailed it.
We literally jumped for joy and high-fived.
Grateful for Umesh's years of knowledge and practice, this also reminded me of one extremely important thing: The moment you release your attachment to the outcome, and just do things for the joy of it, is when you start to allow whatever it is you desire to easily flow your way.
